A Visit from Tom Lichtenheld

Creating a Monster

After weeks of listening to his books and preparing for his visit, today we welcomed author and illustrator Tom Lichtenheld to Sand Lake Elementary School. He talked to us about his books, explained how he gets ideas, and drew a few of his characters. Students helped design and name pirates and monsters (like Fredrick Slimecatcher, pictured above). A boy and a girl from each group were invited to read Duck! Rabbit! to everyone. We had a great day with our guest! (Read more about Tom Lichtenheld's visit in this article from the Courier-Life.)
