Flat Stanley Projects
Last fall during library classes, first graders listened to Flat Stanley as part of the Global Read Aloud project. We have had four Flat friends visiting Sand Lake Elementary. We have taken pictures and documented their adventures. Take a look at our culminating project, digital VoiceThread stories written and narrated by the first graders.

Read Across America
Today we celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday and Read Across America. Our day began with the Reader's Oath on the morning announcements. It's great to see so many Sand Lake students and staff excited about reading!

Wisconsin Golden Archer Award
Since 1973, Wisconsin children have annually selected the Golden Archer Award. Nominees are narrowed to five books in each category -- Primary, Intermediate, and Middle/Junior High -- and students vote for their favorites. During our February library classes, we read books from the Primary list and discussed books from the Intermediate list. While we wait for the statewide results to be announced in March, take a look at how Sand Lake students voted...

International Dot Day
Last week during 2nd grade library classes, we read Peter Reynolds' book, The Dot. This week, we have been in the computer lab celebrating International Dot Day (September 15th-ish). Students have been inspired to create their own dot artwork. Check out the slideshow galleries!
